English and Tennis Academy at Wycombe Abbey is designed for international students who want to learn English language as well as to develop their tennis skills at a top British boarding school. The course combines professional tennis coaching with English tuition and a lively programme of social activities and excursions.
The course is open to all abilities from beginners to advanced, and students are divided into teams by age. The programme includes a full tennis coaching programme taught by professional tennis coaches in a small group of maximum eight students per session and all equipment is provided. The coaching covers a range of skills and tactics appropriate to the level of each group. Students will be coached in all aspects of tennis with proven coaching methods to help students develop a greater understanding of tactics and matchplay. In addition to the expert coaching there is ample opportunity for competitive matches.
Alongside specialist coaching, in a well-balanced programme, students will be given 15 hours per week English tuition, taught by qualified EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teachers who have ability to make language learning fun. Students will improve language skills through a range of interesting and exciting activities. A full package of social, culture activities and excursions also offer great opportunities for students to socialise and make new friends from across the globe.

English and Tennis Academy consists of a full programme of English tuition, tennis coaching, activities, and excursions. It includes:

Excursions are a vital part of the summer experience for international students to gain a cultural understanding of the UK alongside English language study. Students will have 2 fully day excursion each week to experience the rich cultural heritage of Britain. The choices include:

The sample timetable below is a typical English and Tennis Academy summer programme.
Students stay in comfortable boarding houses of Wycombe Abbey. Girls and boys are accommodated separately. Small clusters of rooms have shared bathroom facilities, common rooms and kitchens and provide the perfect environment for relaxation and socialising. A team of friendly staff will stay with the students to look after them in the evenings and is on duty throughout the night. (En-suite rooms may be requested at the time of booking; a supplement of £125 per person per week applies)
Well balanced, nutritious three cooked meals a day with a wide range of salads and hot dishes are provided in the school dining room. Vegetarian meals are always available and are clearly labelled. Drinks and snacks are provided during break times. Packed lunches are provided for excursions.
Excellent sports facilities including an indoor heated swimming pool and impressive sports facilities. There are students’ lounges, common TV room, and kitchens facilities in the accommodation.
Laundry is done once a week. All bed linen is provided and is laundered once a week. Towels are not provided.
