12-16 year olds, girls and boys (English level: Intermediate B1 to Advanced)
The English Summer Boarding Courses at prestigious Eton College are general English programmes aiming to help students develop not only English language skills, but also transferable skills for future academic and career success in the 21st century.
The programmes are designed to build communication, teamwork and creativity skills, with the objective of improving students’ understanding of English and their confidence in using it in everyday situations through weekly research and presentation projects.
Student’s English level will be assessed through an online placement test before the summer, in order to place the student in the right class suited for their level of English. The courses are delivered with innovative language teaching methodology – CLIL – Content and Language Integrated Learning. In these language courses, English becomes the means of learning subject content; students will build up language competency by using it to explore and discuss curriculum topics, and become academically proficient in English language. Each week students will also take part in a group presentation project of Time to Shine, to cultivate their confidence, research and public speaking skills and teamwork.
