Fees are per student. Heathrow transfers between 10:00 and 18:00 on arrival and departure days are included; transfers at other times or from other UK airports cost extra. The unaccompanied minor fee is not included.

Wycombe Abbey, est. 1896

Wycombe Abbey is one of the UK’s top boarding schools, set on a secure 170-acre campus in the Chiltern Hills, about 30 miles from central London and 20 miles from Heathrow. It has twice been named Independent School of the Year by the Sunday Times in the last ten years, and around a third of its students receive Oxbridge offers each year.

3 · The summer programme

Immersive, intensive, international, inspiring

The programme puts each student at the centre, with clear learning outcomes. Mornings bring three hours of English, built around three topics: English for Academic Purposes and Examinations, British Culture and 21st Century Skills. Teachers use content and language integrated learning and a problem-based approach, so students use English to complete real-life tasks and challenges.

Every student takes an online placement test before arrival, and all lessons are delivered in a dyslexia-friendly format. Students finish with an end-of-course certificate and report.

Afternoon electives

Students choose one elective before arrival and follow it for their whole stay, two hours every afternoon (except on excursion days).

Sports, activities and evenings

There are sports and activities every day except excursion days, and something different every evening, from Speed Meeting and Oscars Night to Red vs Blue, Around the World, Quiz Night and the Talent Show.

Excursions

Five excursions every two weeks, including transport and entry fees. Destinations depend on the session.

Accommodation and care

An en-suite boarding bedroom
Boarding
All rooms are en-suite, with single, twin and multi-bedded rooms. Boys and girls live separately, with staff on duty overnight.
Meals
Full board: breakfast, hot lunch and dinner, with packed lunches on excursion days. Dietary needs can be catered for if declared in advance.
Facilities
25m swimming pool, large sports centre, dance studio, climbing wall, theatre, tennis and squash courts.
Safety
A secure 170-acre campus with 24/7 security, and 24-hour residential support from experienced Houseparents.
