English plus Performing Arts Summer Camp is designed for students who want to develop their theatrical performance skills in Drama and Dance, whilst also improving their English at one of the most prestigious boarding schools in the UK.
The Performing Arts are important vehicles of developing 21st century skills for children. It fosters children’s “emotional intelligence”, allowing them to express themselves, embrace their imagination and emotions, and simultaneously teach their language and cultivate their creativity, problem solving, communication and social skills.
The programme of English plus Performing Arts Summer Camp combines English Language tuition with drama and dance classes. Taught by subject specialist teachers, students have 15 hours specialist courses each week, which build skills in acting, singing, dance and stagecraft. The students work towards a final production of Musical Theatre, and perform it in the school’s own theatre at the end of the course. One highlight of the course is an optional visit to a London Musical show in a West End Theatre at an additional cost.
Alongside afternoon specialist courses, students will have 15 hours English tuition per week in the morning in small groups of 12 to 15, taught by qualified EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teachers. Students follow a structured communicative English Language syllabus with the emphasis on Speaking and Listening skills. After a full day of English lessons, specialst courses and sports in the evenings, students enjoy a lively programme of social activities. Each week there is a varied social programme with fun events such as a disco, barbecue, challenge event, treasure hunt, talent show, and sports competition or similar. The full package of social, culture activities and excursions offer great opportunities for students to socialise and make new friends from across the globe.
