Nestled in the heart of rural Somerset, it is a school which is doing things differently and distinctively: Children’s happiness and wellbeing underpin their whole approach and pupils feel they truly belong. This, together with inspirational teaching and an innovative and flexible curriculum, enables the children to achieve superb outcomes in so many areas. This approach is proving to be hugely successful with Year 8 pupils moving onto their senior schools of choice. Furthermore, around 65% of these children in recent years have gained a scholarship or award in the process.
Through innovative teaching and learning, the school aims to promote each pupil’s intellectual character, cultivating their capacity to combine thinking skills with knowledge, confidence and self-esteem, to believe in the legitimacy of their own thoughts, to speak their mind articulately (but change it when required), to contest poor thinking and prejudice assertively, and enjoy the challenge of mental sparring. All Hallows foster intellectual risk-taking and curiosity, independence, resilience and effective learning habits within an ambitious, supportive learning community where individual learning profiles are nurtured and celebrated, and where all children are encouraged to strive to achieve their very best.
All Hallows is an entirely inclusive Christian school, welcoming children and families from all faiths and none. Younger children benefit from an exciting, hands-on, thematic-based curriculum, which includes a fully established Forest School within the school’s onsite 9-acre woodland. In addition to their academic lessons, the pupils have an enormous range of opportunities for learning, development and enjoyment in wider contexts, such as Forest School, Music, Art, Creative Design and Sport which all form part of their curriculum.
Beyond the curriculum, our children are encouraged to join in with the many extra-curricular activities from learning a musical instrument to studying for LAMDA speech and drama examinations, from cookery and creative design to judo and cross-country running, there is something for everyone.
