Tonbridge School is part of the Eton Group and is one of the most prestigious and exclusive independent schools in the UK, with a large proportion of its students going on to Oxbridge every year and has produced at least 20 Prime Ministers. IMPACT Summer offers boys and girls aged 13–17, from the UK and around the world, an enriching experience designed to help them learn, grow, and embrace new challenges within a supportive and stimulating environment. The programme nurtures curiosity, independence and character, helping students to develop the knowledge, confidence and skills to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Built around three core pillars, each student designs a personalised programme that reflects their academic interests, future ambitions and individual passions. By selecting a Pathway, a Growth Workshop and one or two IMPACT Skills, every participant creates a summer experience that is purposeful, engaging and uniquely their own.

3 PATHWAYS I 7 COURSES I 2 SPRINTS

The Applied Learning Pathways form the first of IMPACT’s three core pillars, providing a personalised journey for each student. Designed for ambitious learners, the programme offers a dynamic, student-centred education that combines academic rigour with real-world relevance. Through agile sprints and team-based challenges, students develop critical thinking, leadership, and adaptability.

  • Course Essentials

    Tonbridge School Impact Summer Courses consist of a well-balanced programme of tuition, activities, sports and excursions. It includes:

    • 5 x 6 hours of Applied Learning Pathways
    • 12 x 45mins hours of Growth Workshops
    • 7 x 1.5 hours of Impact Skills
    • 3 full-day excursions, including London, Cambridge/Oxford University Visit
    • Full afternoon and evening activity programme
    • Maximum class size is 15
    • Transfers to and from Gatwick Airport between 09:00-17:00 on arrival days.
    • Insurance and Other airport transfers and any additional activities are NOT included

    Growth Workshops:

    Growth Workshops provide a distinguished foundation for self-discovery, leadership, and future readiness. Every session is interactive and through hands-on exercises, reflective discussion, and collaborative challenges, students cultivate confidence, resilience, and adaptability.

    IMPACT Skills:

    IMPACT Skills takes a holistic approach to learning with each sprint including seven sessions, delivered through sports and activities either on campus or off campus. Students can choose either:

    • One IMPACT Skill across all seven sessions for deeper mastery
    • Two IMPACT Skills, with three sessions in Week 1 and four in Week 2 for variety and exploration

    Social Activities:

    With access to Tonbridge School’s outstanding facilities, IMPACT students take part in a rich and varied programme of sport, activities and social events that extend learning well beyond the classroom. From climbing on the purpose-built rock wall and performing in the state-of-the-art theatre to swimming in the Olympic-standard Sports Centre, each experience encourages enjoyment, confidence and ambition.

    Evenings offer time to relax and connect with friends. Students can watch films in the modern screening room, enjoy pool or table tennis, take part in karaoke or quiz nights, or join more informal events such as discos, pamper evenings and live sports viewings. Off-site trips add further variety, including visits to the cinema, bowling and ice-skating, as well as relaxed walks into Tonbridge town for dinner with staff. There is something to suit every interest.

    Excursions:

    Our excursions offer students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture, history, and vibrancy of the UK. Each trip is carefully designed to balance structure with autonomy, fostering confidence, resilience, and social skills. Beyond sightseeing, excursions encourage teamwork, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of the communities and environments students visit. By blending learning with adventure, these experiences create lasting memories and enrich the broader IMPACT programme, connecting classroom knowledge with the world beyond.

    English for Global Leaders A dynamic course for students aged 13–17 that combines advanced English fluency with global awareness and leadership development.   • Below is a typical two week sample programme and a typical day of Tonbridge Impact Summer Courses.

  • Boarding:
    Students stay in comfortable Tonbridge School’s boarding houses with single, twin, triple or quad rooms with shared bathroom facilities. Girls and boys are accommodated separately. Common rooms and kitchens provide the perfect environment for relaxation and socialising. A team of friendly staff will stay with the students within the boarding houses and are available at all times to provide assistance and a high level of supervision.

    Meals:
    Well balanced, nutritious three cooked meals a day with a wide range of salads and hot dishes are provided in the school dining room. Vegetarian meals are always available and are clearly labelled. Drinks and snacks are provided during break times. Packed lunches are provided for excursions.

    Facilities:
    Tonbridge School boasts beautiful historic buildings in a 150 acre campus, with excellent sports facilities including modern classrooms, a recently refurbished library, a large chapel, lecture theatres and excellent sports centres – 24 tennis courts, 12 rugby fields, 9 cricket grounds, 7 hockey fields, 6 football fields, an indoor shooting range, an all-weather athletic track, as well as a large sports complex with a swimming pool. Wi-Fi is available throughout the school.

    Laundry:
    Laundry is done once a week. All bed linen is provided and is laundered once a week. Towels are not provided.

  • Tonbridge School in Kent is part of the ‘Eton Group’ of schools. Established in 1553 by Sir Andrew Judde and King Edward VI, the school is one of most highly-regarded and exclusive UK boarding schools with around 790 boys between 13 and 18 years. It is one of the top-10 all-boy public schools in the UK.

    The school aims to provide a caring and enlightened environment in which the talents of each individual flourish. It encourages boys to be creative, tolerant and to strive for academic, sporting and cultural excellence. Respect for tradition and an openness to innovation are equally valued.

    For over 450 years, Tonbridge School has established a formidable academic reputation. This is achieved by high quality teachers, assisted by dedicated support staff, who together foster a broad curriculum for able boys, which seeks to encourage intellectual advancement, curiosity and creativity in a stimulating, challenging but cooperative academic environment. Tonbridge encourages all boys to aspire to academic excellence, and their pupils achieve some of the best examination results in the country. In 2022, more than 85% of A-level results and 97% of GSCE results were A*/A or equivalent. And in 2021, more than 87% of A-level results and 96% of GSCE results were A*/A or equivalent. Their remarkable achievements lead to exceptional success in gaining places at top universities, with over 99% of boys secured admission to their first-choice university, mostly at top, high tariff universities worldwide including Oxbridge, Russel Group and Ivy League schools. 90% of their 2023 Leavers secured a place at Russell Group and higher tariff universities. The highly influential ‘Parent Power School Guide 2024’ ranked Tonbridge School as the 6th best independent school nationally, and placed the school in 5th place in the national A-level rankings, based on 2023 results, and joint 13th nationally for its GCSE performance in 2023.

    Tonbridge School-sports resizedThe school has 24 tennis courts, 12 rugby fields, 9 cricket grounds, 7 hockey fields, 6 football fields, an indoor shooting range, an all-weather athletic track, as well as a large sports complex with a swimming pool. For comprehensive development, students are provided with scientific laboratories, a computer centre, a music school, a theatre, a weather station, a photo studio, and more recently, the school boasts its own large gallery.

    Pastoral care is based on the strong house system which fosters a strong sense of belonging. Superb outdoor facilities are complemented by boarding houses benefiting from a rolling programme of refurbishment, new academic departments, a social centre, lecture theatres, and a major arts, music, creativity and technology complex linked to the near 400 seat E M Forster Theatre. The world-class Tonbridge School Centre has been used as an Olympic training venue and provides superb facilities for a range of sports.
