Oxford Young Explorers Summer Boarding Courses is an innovative summer camp where education mixes with adventure. It’s designed to blend traditional learning with dynamic activities as children explore core subjects tailored for young learners in a dynamic and engaging way to maximise their learning.

At Oxford Young Explorers Summer Boarding Courses, students explore English language learning through a fully immersive programme of themed lessons, inspiring workshops, and amazing activities. Each day unfolds as a captivating exploration into core subjects tailored for young learners, including English, Mathematics, Science, History, and Art and Design. Each theme is explored in four stages: Discover, Develop, Dare, and Showtime.

Oxford Young Explorers

Student’s English level will be assessed through an online placement test before the summer, in order to place the student in the right class suited for their level of English. The comprehensive syllabus is combined with action-packed activity programme and cultural excursions. This is an amazing opportunity for young learners to use their English to make new friends and improve their language skills while having fun, and creating long-lasting memories.

  • Course Essentials:

    Oxford Young Explorers Summer Boarding Courses consist of a well-balanced programme of tuition, multi-activities, sports and excursions. It includes:

    • 30 hours of lessons and workshops over two weeks
    • 3 full-day excursions over two weeks
    • Full social and activity programmes outside classrooms
    • Maximum class size is 15, and the average class size is around 12.
    • Comprehensive travel insurance
    • Airport transfers are NOT included. £130 one-way supplement charge if required.

    Social Programme:

    Outside classroom, students will improve language skills and learn new skills through an action packed social programme with a wide range of sporting, cultural and entertaining activities, such as:

  • Boarding:

    Junior CampAll students live in purpose-built accommodation of the world-famous Dragon School in North Oxford, with shared dormitories and bathroom facilities..

    Students will be roomed with someone of a similar age, but different native language. However, we will do our best to meet any specific accommodation requests (e.g. sharing a room with a friend).  We require early notification from parents for special arrangement.

    The friendly and supportive house parents and residential staff team are available 24 hours per day to support students with any needs.

    Meals:

    Well balanced, nutritious cooked Breakfast, lunch and Dinner are provided in school canteen, and packed Lunch are provided for excursions . Water and drinks are provided with meals.

    Facilities:

    The school is home to a host of impressive facilities: expansive playing fields and Astros, boathouse and river access, an indoor swimming pool and a gym. It also has multipurpose studio known as The Rink, specialist DT and three well-stocked Art studios, a cooking room known as The Cauldron and six superb science labs. It offers a friendly, family atmosphere with an art room, boarders kitchen, games room, music practice room and lots fun activities. With 22 acres to play with, the children have an abundance of space and facilities to enjoy a diverse array of passions.

    Laundry:

    Laundry is done once a week. All bed linen is provided and is laundered once a week. Towels are not provided.

  • Dragon School Oxford is an extraordinary co-educational boarding and day school in Oxford, which offers an outstanding educational experience for both boys and girls from 4 to 13 years. Located just north of central Oxford – the oldest University City in the world. The school apply a distinctive approach encourages enquiry, confidence and enthusiasm in a quintessentially English school environment.

    Founded in 1877 as the Oxford Preparatory School, by a committee of Oxford dons, among whom the most active was a Mr George. In honour of Saint George, the group decided to call themselves Dragons. The Dragon School became the second school to take part in the Harrow History Prize in 1895. Over the years, many of its pupils have won this prize, an early winner being Kit Lynam. The school was run for many years by the Lynam family. The school has become notable for its large number of eminent alumni.

In 2024, their pupils won 83 Scholarships and Awards to their senior schools, and their students go onto a vast range of senior schools, notably; Eton, Rugby, Harrow, Marlborough College, St Edward’s Oxford, Radley, Oundle, Winchester, Wellington, Wycombe Abbey, Cheltenham Ladies College, Stowe School and Bradfield College.

    Pupils of the school has an enviable programme of over 100 co-curricular activities, guaranteeing something for everyone. From animation club to yoga, rock group to roller skating, skiing to surfing and gardening to coding, there are countless opportunities for children to develop their creative talents and build their confidence, physical health, and general wellbeing. With direct river access and our own boathouse, children can enjoy all that the river has to offer; from sculling, paddle boarding and canoeing, to theatre productions on the river front and boarding BBQ’s.
