English Plus Tennis Dates

English plus Tennis Summer Camp is designed for international students who want to learn English language while developing their tennis skills at a traditional British boarding school. The camp combines professional tennis coaching from the renowned ACE Tennis with immersive English tuition and action-packed social activities and excursions.

The camp is based at Queenswood School, which boasts some of the best residential tennis facilities in Europe. Professional players who have graced the Queenswood courts include Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Lleyton Hewitt, Serena Williams and Kim Clijsters.

The camp is open to all levels and students are divided into teams by age and abilities. The programme includes 18 hours of professional tennis coaching from the renowned ACE Tennis in a small group, and all equipment is provided. The coaching covers a range of skills and tactics appropriate to the level of each group.

English Plus Tennis Summer Camp

Alongside tennis coaching, students receive 30 hours of English lessons. The curriculum is structured into three different programmes based on the students’ age, level and needs.

Queenswood English Plus Summer Programme

There are also other English Plus elective programme available on site, including Multi-Activity, Drama, Leadership & Life Skills. Students can opt for one of theses electives instead of Tennis and receive 18 hours of Plus lessons.

  • Course Essentials:

    English plus Tennis Summer Camp consists of a full programme of English tuition, tennis coaching, activities, and excursions. It includes:

    • 30 hours of structured English tuition
    • 18 hours of professional tennis coaching from ACE Tennis
    • Full evening activities and social programme
    • 3 full-day and 1 half day excursions including Oxford and London
    • Maximum class size is 12
    • London Heathrow Airport transfers between 10:00am and 6:00pm
    • Other English Plus options available on site, including Multi-Activity, Drama, Leadership & Life Skills

    Outside classrooms and tennis coaching, students will improve language skills and make friends through a broad range of evening cultural and entertaining activities, such as:

  • Boarding:
    Queenswood boardingStudents stay in comfortable boarding houses of Queenswood School, with single, twin, and multi-bedded rooms for three to four students, all with shared bathrooms. Girls and boys are accommodated separately.

    Common rooms and games rooms provide the perfect environment for relaxation and socialising. A team of friendly staff will stay with the students to look after them in the evenings and is on duty throughout the night.

    Meals:
    Well balanced, nutritious three cooked meals a day with a wide range of salads and hot dishes are provided in the school dining room. Vegetarian meals are always available and are clearly labelled. Drinks and snacks are provided during break times. Packed lunches are provided for excursions.

    Facilities:
    Set in a beautiful 120-acre site, the Queenswood LTA National Tennis Centre regularly plays host to both domestic and international tournaments. The school has 27 tennis courts in total, 13 artificial grass courts, 12 American ‘fast-dry’ green clay courts, indoor tennis courts, large sports hall, theatre, and indoor swimming pool with qualified lifeguards.

    Laundry:
    Laundry is done once a week. All bed linen is provided and is laundered once a week. Towels are not provided.

  • Queenswood School is a traditional boarding school where girls achieve outstanding results, both in and beyond the classroom. The school is nestled in the picturesque Hertfordshire countryside with a beautiful 120-acre site, offers an immersive educational experience in a prestigious boarding school setting. It’s the finalist 2024 of the Independent Schools of the Year Awards.

    The School is over 120 years old, the name “Queenswood” along with the school’s motto “in hortis reginæ” (In Queens’ Gardens) pays tribute to John Ruskin (1819–1900) who was a champion of female education and women’s place in society. In 1865 he published a lecture “Of Quenns’ Gardens” on which the name and motto were based. The lecture was one of a series “Sesame and Lilies” delivered in December 1864.
