Charterhouse Young Learners Summer Courses offer international students an exclusive opportunity to study English and experience the exquisite campus life of this world famous public school.
Beyond their academic, sporting and artistic endeavours, our focus is that pupils will feel secure and supported, comfortable, respected and safe in their environment. Our Charterhouse Young Learners Summer Course is an opportunity for young people to experience a UK boarding school environment, along with promoting learning in a fun, exciting and interactive way inside and outside the classroom. The boarding experience will bring about life skills, independence and help develop good manners.


We are very much looking forward to hosting young students at Charterhouse. This is a great opportunity for young students to experience two weeks of a typical British boarding school education, which will include a range of academic subjects plus exciting co-curricular activities. Charterhouse is an idyllic and beautiful campus with outstanding facilities. Students will learn some of the history of England, its geographical features, conduct science investigations, and of course improve their grasp of both language and literature. During the afternoons art, drama, music and sport are also catered for, and pupils will visit local historic sites, as well as some of the famous attractions in London.Many of the teachers are experienced Prep School specialists who have worked on the Charterhouse Young Learners Summer Course for a number of years and will ensure that students enjoy a stimulating, educational and inspirational stay, creating memories and making new friends.
Course Essentials
Charterhouse Young Learners Summer Courses consist of a well-balanced programme of academic classes, activities, sports and excursions. It includes:
- 18 hours of Academic Classes
- 24 hours of Co-Curricular Classes
- 2 full-day and 2 half-day excursions
- Afternoon and evening activity programme
- School report and certificate
- Catering
- Airport transfers are NOT included
Activities:
Outside classroom, students will improve life skills through a broad range of sporting, cultural and entertaining activities.
Excursions:
During this course a number of excursions take place to encourage interactive learning outside of the classroom to further develop and enhance what has been learned during classroom lessons. These can vary each year, below are some excursions we have taken students on over the last 2 years:

- London
- Royal Wisley Gardens
- Winchester Science Museum
- Portsmouth Historic Dockyard
- Godalming

Boarding:
Students stay in traditional 19th century boarding houses in the main school, with their stunning architecture, impressive history and charming atmosphere. The boarding house has a variety of room types – single, twins, and quad rooms, with shared bathroom facilities. Girls and boys are accommodated separately. There are also communal areas for students to relax and socialise together. A team of friendly staff will stay with the students within the boarding houses and are available at all times to provide assistance and a high level of supervision.
Meals:
Well balanced, nutritious three cooked meals a day with a wide range of salads and hot dishes are provided in the school dining room. Vegetarian meals are always available and are clearly labelled. Packed lunches are provided for excursions.Facilities:
Charterhouse School boasts excellent facilities including modern classrooms, a state-of-the-art theatre, extensive art block with textile and ceramics studios plus a dark room, extensive grass and astro-turf sports pitches, flood-lit tennis courts, indoor sports centre with gym, studios, squash courts etc. 25m swimming pool. Student common rooms in all boarding houses and Wi-Fi is available throughout the school.Laundry:
Laundry is done once a week. All bed linen is provided and is laundered once a week. In GCSE results 2024, over half (56%) of all results were graded 9-8 (A*). 74% achieved grades 9-7 (‘straight As’). In A-Level 2024, an impressive 86% of papers were awarded A*-B grades (or equivalent) across a cohort of 170 pupils taking A Levels or the IB Diploma Programme, and amongst the top 150 pupils 91% of courses were graded A*-B.
