English and British Heritage Tour is one of the best language and cultural study tours that UK has to offer. It is designed for international students who want to explore the great British heritage across the UK while learning English language.
This is a cultural programme as much as an academic one, which integrates academic studies with activities and culture tour, covering some of the best sights that Great Britain has to offer. English and British Heritage Tour is a perfect stand-alone course showcasing Great Britain, or a great accompaniment at the end of another academic course programme.
The syllabus of English and British Heritage Tour incorporates English language study, language for life, interactive lectures and a cultural project throughout the duration of the programme. The structured programme contains a full academic programme with 30 hours of English tuition and 15 hours of culture and heritage sessions. The English tuiton mostly takes place in Edinburgh over the five days, with further English tuition taking place through interactive lectures at various locations designed specifically around the daily excursions and activities. An ongoing educational project will also complement the cultural nature of the programme and encourage collaboration and communication through the process of investigating commonly held British stereotypes. The project culminates in a presentation evening in which groups display and present their work.
With private coach travel between London, York, Edinburgh, the Lake District and Manchester, this ‘summer school on wheels’ provides young explorers an unrivalled way to develop English language skills as well as greater cultural understanding by visiting destinations across England and Scotland, and receiving lessons
along the way.

London
The programme starts and ends in London, a city full of history, culture and some of the finest architecture in Europe. Students will be able to experience the best of all that London has to offer with planned trips to the Tower of London, shopping in Oxford Street, a West end Musical and a visit to British Museum and London Eye etc. On their final day in London, students will see world-famous sites outside of central London.
York
After the first two days in London the programme takes students to York, a city with a long history including Viking invasions and major roles in both the English Civil war and the Wars of the Roses. Like London, York still has many ancient buildings including York Minster which dates back to 1338. Students will also walk along “the Shambles”, a collection of streets 700 years old lined with timber framed buildings.
Edinburgh
Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city, was built around an extinct volcano. Both the Old Town and the New Town were designated UNESCO World Heritage sites. The city hosts the world famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August which attracts tourists to its amazing variety of shows and performances. Students will explore the historic city centre, Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Park and will also watch a show at the Fringe festival.
Ambleside, Lake District
The Lake District is one of the most beautiful and famous examples of the English countryside and is a designated National Park. The area is renowned for its beautiful landscapes which inspired the famous English poet William Wordsworth and the other romantic poets of the 19th Century. During the stay in the Lakes students will go on a boat tour on Lake Windermere which offers some stunning views of this scenic landscape.
Stonehenge
On the way back to London the group will stop at Stonehenge. This mysterious stone circle lies in the middle of the English countryside and is believed to be around 5,000 years old. Today, together with Avebury, Stonehenge forms the heart of a World Heritage Site, with a unique concentration of prehistoric monuments.

London – Goldsmith’s College, University of London (Single Rooms)
This very open campus has large playing fields and is close to the famous Greenwich Park, Maritime Greenwich, the Oval cricket ground and Canary Wharf. Besides, it has royal approval as Princess Beatrice recently graduated from Goldsmiths!
York – Days Inn Hotel, Wetherby (Twin Rooms)
This 3-star hotel is just outside the city. It is ranked No.1 hotels in Wetherby and rated 92% by 656 reviews. All rooms in the hotel are twin rooms.
Edinburgh – Heriot Watt University (Single Rooms, En-suite)
This leading public university with an established reputation for world class teaching and pioneering research is set in 380 acres of parkland which is perfect for unwinding, socialising and excellent for studying and activities. It came 1st in Scotland and 4th in the UK in the 2012 National Student Survey, and saw the largest increase in UK applicants of any UK university for the 2013 academic session.
Lake District – Ambleside Youth Hostel (Shared Rooms)
Students will stay at the Youth Hostel in Ambleside which is located on the banks of Lake Windermere, the largest natural lake in England. Accommodation in the hostel will be shared dorms.
Cardiff – Cardiff University (Single Rooms, En-suite)
During their time in the capital of Wales, students will stay in Cardiff University accommodation in single, en-suite bedrooms. The accommodation is within walking distance of the city centre.
