School Groups and Student Exchange

The Study Abroad Groups and Student Exchange are school programmes designed to help primary and middle schools as well as university colleges empowering their students to discover the outside world and benefit from a global curriculum, global experiences, and global thinking.

The programme helps school/college students to come to the UK to learn English, acquire skills, cultivate global perspectives and critical thinking, and experience the world around them at some of the best English campuses in London, Oxford and Cambridge, including Oxford University and Cambridge University.

In a famous speech, Dr. Gordon Gee said: “A student who has a chance to experience the world first hand, to navigate in unknown territory, will grow as a person, gain confidence, and learn skills that will last a lifetime. To step outside the familiar is to enliven creativity that nourishes innovation and the intellectual life.”

There are more and more secondary schools, including primary schools, are expanding and strengthening their participation in study abroad short programmes to enable their students to step outside of the classroom with a faculty member and a small group of their peers to experience hands-on learning opportunities in international contexts. The immersion in the first class English environment with packed lessons of foreign culture, language, problem-solving, and teamwork enables students return imbued with the ability to value differences, build on commonalities, and to see what is beyond the horizon.

We have some great study abroad school programmes for all levels of students. The courses can be tailored to specific learning needs of a group, and the content and timetable can be flexibly arranged based upon a particular group’s unique requirements and the number of participants.

The following three programmes are just examples for reference.

  • 10-18 year olds, 4 weeks / 6 weeks / 8 weeks programmes in both UK and China

    This unique two-way Language and Culture Exchange Programme, designed in partnership with schools both in the UK and China, aims to expand their students’ knowledge, help them gain a deeper understanding and experience of foreign cultures, enhance foreign language skills, and build a global network.

    The programme includes language instruction and cultural enrichment experiences to enable students experiencing the culture and the way of a real life in another country – the people, the language, the daily living, as well as its unique culture and beliefs. Students in the same age group will be placed into their foreign peer student families, where students will not only live with them, but also participate in structured cultural activities, designed to help students to gain a deeper understanding and knowledge of the ‘self’ and the ‘world’ – the knowledge that only gained through experience.

    Major benefits of participating in student exchange programme include:

    1)    Improve foreign language skills, gain a deeper understanding of foreign culture through participation in structured cultural activities and by living with host families;

    2)    Get to know the local people, cultivate friendships, make lasting connections with members of the host family and the friends at the host country;

    3)    Enhance language and communication skills by meeting, talking, and sharing with new people in a different world, with different language and culture,

    4)    Develop new skills as an exchange participant, taking responsibility, being self-confidence, respect and tolerate differences;

    5)    Develop leadership skills, and comprehend the complexities of the world around us.

    6)    Gain insights into the meaning of social-cultural elements – neighborhood, nation and global community.

    7)    Mutual benefits for host families or student exchange families and their children for appreciation and understanding of foreign culture and diversity as hosts of foreign students.

    The programme offers a great opportunity for students to learn and experience the outside world that could not have been taught in a classroom at home country. If your school is interested in this programme, we would love to hear from you. Click here to Contact Us.
